From Stem to Stern?

Well it’s done. I’ve cleaned the entire house, stem to stern (where did that phrase come from?) and I must say, it's quite satisfying to see it this way. However, if “He Who Doesn't Do Dishes” complains about the way I’ve wrapped up the vacuum cleaner cord again, he may get that particular appliance inserted into a place the sun doesn’t shine.

In other news, my camera is on the way home! I will be so happy to see it (and HWDDD, of course). Apparently the hunting trip was successful and there will be fresh elk in the freezer this year. If you are wondering why the camera was invited along on this adventure and I was not, it is because I always root for the elk. I much prefer elk framed, rather than frozen.

Isn't the stem to stern a naval (boat-related) term? I think it is, anyway.

I am not caught up on your blog but sounds like you had camera problems. Well, at least, I hope you can enjoy your elk. :)

My camera problem is that my boyfriend borrowed it to take with him hunting. Fortunately, he brought it back in one piece, so life is good.

As for the phrase, I think you are right. It seems to have something to do with ship building.

Thanks for stopping by.

Think the stem is the bottom board thingie and the stern is the back end of the boat...and interesting use of a household appliance...I might use that some time. lol

Threecollie: I think you are right about the boat reference, it makes sense to me anyway. As for the creative use of household appliances...it's tempting sometimes, but I haven't had to "yet".
