Just Another Conspiracy Theory

I received a couple of comments on my blog this morning, so I thought I would answer them, as is my custom. Imagine my surprise when the virus software on my government computer boldly announced that there was a virus present. Thinking it to be some kind of mistake, I tried to log in again. Once again, I received warning of virus activity. I quickly closed the browser so as not to get a sternly worded advisory from the federal government IT services saying that I was accessing a forbidden site (not that I ever would, do I look like that kind of girl to you? Ok, there was this one time, in band camp….).

So….the rest of my day went swimmingly, aside from the fact that I didn’t dare access my blog and I felt like a crack-whore jonesing for a fix. I left work precisely at 4:30 pm, rare for me because I usually work until at least 5, donating time to the cause, don’t ya know (ok, making up for the time I’m piddling around on the internet during the day).

I did the usual after-work errands and hurried home to see what was up with my blog. I couldn’t see anything obvious and my virus scan didn’t pick anything up, so I consulted tech support (my son) who told me that the most likely culprit was the music video I had recently added to my site. He told me that some virus software can be set up to detect that type of activity. I removed the video and drove back to work to see if I got the same error message and I did not. To be honest, I think it’s a conservative conspiracy to increase productivity and limit free speech and I’m outraged!

yes, it is a conspiracy but the world has to be safe from atheist flag burning marrying homos who want us all to sing the national anthem in spanish!

ur-spo, Hilarious comment. But you probably already know I am all for gays marrying, I'd like nothing better than to dance at my son's wedding.

I do, however, have a problem with singing the national anthem in spanish. I have enough trouble with english; I'm never gonnna wrap my tongue around spanish.

Righteous outrage. Oy, how did we used to waste our time at work?

I also like ur-spo's comment. Very funny.

Wow, I'm so impressed that you tested "below average" on your emissions output. Give me a month, and I'll see what I can do. Anyway, bravo.

Potato print, I live in a very small, tight house. I keep the temperature around 65 degrees in the winter and 75 or so in the summer. We get 8% of our energy from wind in Montana, so that helped lower my emissions output. On the negative side, I am a conspicuous consumer of gas, because I travel a lot for work. On the plus side, my car gets around 30 mpg and is well tuned to reduce emissions.

Once again I have to say how much I LOVE your art, it’s truly delightful.

Hugs,
Laurie

Three collie, I know exactly what you mean. I don't have many addictions; my family, my cats and blogs. I guess it could be worse; I could spend my time doing something far worse (at least that’s what I keep telling myself).

Of course it’s a conspiracy! Just like those 1960s rock LPs that, when you played them backwards, spit out the words of Satan.

Nick, Don't you know....Paul is dead!! ;-)

Life is not fun at all unless you can have a couple of good conspiracy theories going! :)

Rurality, Am I only allowed a couple? ;-)

What WOULD WE DO! without our son's holding our hands through out these tech-crises?

Oh! I love it when a I learn a new word - 'jonesing'. Hmmmm. I guess that one must have come out of the drug culture in recent years. Hmmmm. Wonder why the surname 'Jones'.

Cathy, I wondered that myself. Why not "Smithing"?

I would be totally lost if not for my son's help. What comes so naturally to him is totally alien to me. I designed a website and have maintained it for over 2 years, but it's still mostly Greek to me (Now I want to know where that saying came from).

'it's greek to me'
is from shakespeare

Ur-spo, Thank you, I had completely forgotten that it came from Julius Caesar. I am going to blame my advanced age for the memory lapse. ;-)
