More Adventures

Once Wolf had led us safely to his apartment, we hauled our things up and settled in. Tired from the trip, but still giggly and silly, we all talked non-stop for several hours; then went to bed. We awoke the next morning to blue skies and birds chirping. Wolf went to work and Cousin Kay and I puttered around the apartment, waiting for word from the boy cousins. We went walking twice (and yes, we got lost both times), to the store (don’t ask) and I introduced Kay to blogging.

Around 6 pm we finally heard from the boy cousins. Their day had been a busy one; doctor’s appointments and running around town picking up the items Dale would need for his long hospital stay. They were tired and had decided to order in dinner and stay close to the room. We were disappointed, to say the least, but understood their need to relax. After Wolf got off of work, he took us shopping and out to dinner.

Wolf took Friday off, which was great fun. Dan wanted to take Dale to his appointments, so Wolf took us to downtown Denver to look around. Kay is a huge fan of Starbucks, so Wolf made sure to take her to the Starbucks that is across the street from a Starbucks.

Yeah, I know I cut off the rbuc...

I thought Wolf was teasing when he said they were right across the street from each other, but it's true! I stood in the same spot and took both of these photos.

This is the capital building. I love the dome.

The park across from the capital was full of squirrels. Probably because all of the politicans are nuts...

This little guy wasn't at all afraid of me or my camera...

I always have to take one shot from the middle of the street. At least this time no one tried to run over me.

And that concludes my tour of downtown Denver. Later tonight, or tomorrow if time permits, I will share with you the story of what happened the night before Cousin Dale went into the hospital.

Until then, take care everyone. Please keep my Cousin Dale in your thoughts and prayers as the next several days are critical for him.

Please remember to hug the people you care about today and tell them you love them. Life is short and time is precious. Always remember that.

Beautiful pictures, words, and wishes, Laurie. I'll remember you suggestion. I'll keep all of you in my prayers.

Look both ways before you stand in the middle of the street! Denver is beautiful!

I don't know about you and getting lost. And then you stand in the middle of the street to get a photo!?!
I do love the squirrel photos. They are cute, though annoying at times.
Good thoughts for your cousin's surgery.

Wonderful Laurie - that sunset with prisms - so beautiful. Those words never rang truer for me. Cherish the ones you love. Tell them so. Give frequent hugs, gladly.

I'll be praying for Dale's health as I pray for my hubby's.

A big hug to you for hanging in there and sharing your adventure. (Ask Wolf to take you to the Denver Botanic Gardens - ohhhh- they are so way cool. The indoor conservatory with the blooming plants and waterfalls - lovely)

Mary, thank you for the prayers and the kind words.

Kg, yeah, I know. I'm directionally challenged. Thanks for the good thoughts.

Cathy, thank you. I'll be praying for you and your family as well. Hugs to you, dear.

Chris, I figured you'd make some comment about the squirrel or that I got lost yet again, so now you've got me all choked up...

When Dan gets home I'm going to hug him and then ask him about the squirrels in Denver. I remember a (not-so-good) story about them, but I'm not sure if it's city wide, or just at the VA hospital.

I hope Dale is doing well!

Courtney, be sure to let us in on the squirrel story, ok? Thank you.

It so is, Laurie! Tell everyone you love them everyday with words AND deeds.

Those pictures brought back a few memories. My husband used to work for USWest and fly home on the weekends so I would fly up with him once in a while to shop and have fun. I think I used to go to that Starbucks-the second one. It looks familiar. But then again I guess all Starbucks look the same. We rented an apartment in that big building across from the Rock Bottom Brewery. If you guys haven't eaten there, go immediately! It's good.

I love squirrels.

I just figured the squirrel was coming up to give you directions on how to adjust your shutter speed...which would have been in the manual

I feast that in my current busyness (which I celebrate) I have gotten behind on your current adventure. I must catch up!

thank goodness there is a Starbucks!
I miss squirrels; the ditzy little rodents will make me laugh so.

Okay, it wasn't Denver, it was the VA hospital at Colorado Springs. Dan and a buddy were outside of the hospital marveling at the huge, friendly squirrels, when a nurse came out screaming, "stay away from the squirrels! Get away from them!" They wondered why, of course, and apparently the VA Hospital there was a tuberculosis infirmary (or something of that nature) and the squirrels were all carriers of TB.

I suppose I shouldn't have worried, if the squirrels native to Denver were potentially spreading deadly diseases, people would know -- or maybe not. :/

love the photos. There is a similar starbucks corner in Vancouver - in case you get double soy caramel machiatto withdrawls as you cross the street :s

Enjoy Denver. Keeping you in my prayerful thoughts.

I know this is sacrilege, but I've never been in a Starbucks. I have been to Denver, though. I'm not a total hick, you know.

I'll be thinking good thoughts for you and yours.

Mspea, I asked my son about the Rock Bottom Brewery and he said it's an excellent place to eat. I imagine he'll take me there when things are less crazy...

Butterfly, it's all I think about right now...

Steve, it's going pretty well, thanks.

Chris, I knew you wouldn't be able to pass up the opportunity to tease me...

Nick, so good to see you posting again. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Ur-spo, Cousin Kay is addicted to Starbucks coffee. We went several times while she was here. Now that she's gone, I'm back to drinking "regular" coffee...lots of it.

Courtney, thanks for sharing the squirrel story. I'm glad Dan didn't get sick!

Pink, thank you so much. You can never have too many people caring about you...

Jock, I'd only been to Starbucks once before Cousin Kay got ahold of me and turned me to the dark side...

As always.. the pictures. :) They're beautiful!

Thinking good thoughts for your cousin and you. I hope you're able to explore the area while you are there as well. Try to get to Estes Park, one of my favorite hangouts in Colorado. :)

Peace,

~Chani

Chani, I love Estes Park! It's so pretty up there. We may get up there yet. If so, I'll take lots of pictures (of course).
