Stuffies from the Land Down Under

A month or so ago, I wrote a story about my love for stuffed animals. My blogger friend Carol, from Australia, left a comment saying that she had some stuffies that she thought would like to come to America to live with me. After a series of email exchanges, she determined that I would be able to provide a good home for her beloved furries.

What follows is the story of their arrival in the USA.

Thank you Carol for entrusting me with your stuffies. I promise to take good care of them.

I have plenty of those around here as well. It's always when someone sends something along like that, isn't it? :)

Peace,

This is a neat story and the pictoral cracked me up. Your imagination, with a little help from the live furries, is wonderful.

Ok, I thought I was the only one flipping out. You are a riot, Laurie! In my attic, wrapped securely, there are probably 150 "stuffies" and each one has a memory. I just...can't...part with them.

Laurie--see what the world of blogging leads one into? International exchange no less.
I love the photo of one of your kitties who obviously has said--ENOUGH--I am reclaiming my space.
Keep up the good work with the Aussies.

Very cute from beginning to end. Odd that stuffies from Australia would include and moose and a bear. No wonder she thought to send them to you.

Very cute! Although my son is the one with the stuffed animals around here, not me.

I'm so relieved that the local wildlife can co-exist peacefully with the exotic arrivals. My fur-kids would have had to inspect them a little more intimately :0D
Laurie - This is adorable!

Curiousity got the better of the Cat eh? Hey that's my house!
There is something very therapeutic about plushies...I can't quite put my finger on it..hey wait a minute that's it...the tactile pleasure factor...of course you do have atleast one Cat who doesn't want you to forget how soft he is either!.

Oh, Laurie, this is wonderful! I was really miserable and depressed (for no reason) this morning and you have given me a lift! I'm glad that these beasties have found a happy home and I'm thrilled that they have been made welcome by the cats. In answer to Anvilcloud's comment about how odd it was that an Australian had a bear and a moose: when I got these I was spending a lot of time in the US and Canada. The moose came from Oklahoma, the wolf from Alaska and the bear (Mountie) from an official RCMP store in Canada. Somehow, here in the tropics where I live in a house full of real wildlife (as I mentioned in a recent blog) they seemed a little out of place. I thought it only fitting that they go somewhere they would be appreciated. Laurie, I wish you a long and happy life with the stuffed critters!

That is so cute! I have yet to see someone make the 'Bigfoot' prowling around western forests. If you find one of them, let me know - live or stuffed. I'll change my hiking habits.

Mspea, it's adorable and I love it. Nice to know you have the twin.

Chani, I was so happy to get them! They are so cute.

Pam, thanks Pam, that is so sweet of you.

Mary, I'm glad I'm not the only one in love with stuffies.

Kg, that's Mini cat. She is a bit possessive, but a real sweetie.

AC, Carol answered your question for you, :)

Gina, I've always had stuffies. My son gives them to me all the time. I guess our roles are reversed.

Cathy, my furkids are pretty kind to the guests, so far. They are very interested though.

HE, the kittie in the house with the stuffies is the softest cat of them all. She was quite smitten with the new additions.

Carol, I'm so glad you liked it. They will be treasured members of the family forever.

Bonita, I'll keep an eye out for them, I promise!

Laura, I will, I promise.

This is so cute Laurie! I also have stuffies packed away - each one with a special memory.

Naturewoman, they hold such a precious place in my heart, I could never let them go. It's good to know that others feel the same way. :)

I like the wolf. Great pictures. I hope they settle into their new digs easily, and adjust to the reversed seasons and lack of kangaroos.

:-O

I think those Australians aren't Aussie at all. They look suspiciously Canadian to me. A moose, a husky and a something in a mountie hat? Hmmm...

I think they are backpackers who ran out of money and passed themselves off to Carol as Aussie stuffies and they managed to charm themselves into her heart (being Canadian, its easy to charm).

Then they whispered into her ear while she was sleeping! "send us to america"

But they're going to find the Canadian border guards are much more fussy these days on passports...if they should try to escape back north of the border.

I suggest you offer them a foster or a Labatts blue and see which they prefer. Then you'll know if they've charmed you both!

What wonderful animals! And such a long trip for them! They're very special.

What a great story! I love the photos and the narration. Adding cats to the mix really heightened the suspense. Very sweet. This stuffed animal business is a side of you I've not seen.

Cute kitties.

Heartsin, my son's name is Wolf! And I am in negotiations with a kangaroo to join the troupe. Hopefully it will be soon.

Steve, thank you!

Pink, you are so funny! What a great story add-on!

Nick, you have no idea how happy I am to see your comment. You've been in my thoughts and prayers nearly non-stop for weeks.

Potatoprint, my cats love my stuffies! Once in awhile a stuffie goes missing and I find it in my cat's hiding places. Thankfully, they don't ever hurt them!

Chriane, thank you!!
