I did manage to sneak in a soak in the hot tubs, which really weren't hot enough for me, and to take some photos of the eclipse of the moon.
Obviously, I need to work on my technique here, or else lay off the hard liquor.
Not a whole lot better, but it's an interesting shot anyway, don't you think?
I have no clue why the moon appears to have a tail here, but I imagine it was camera operator error.
Not quite there, but I'm getting better at it in this shot.
By George (or Canon) I think I've got it...at least as much as I ever will.Now it's back to work for me! I have notes to finish transcribing and then I'm going to get some rest (if my co-worker, the beautiful and talented Bobbi, doesn't snore all night again). Our conference ends at 3:30 and then we have to drive the 4oo and some miles back to Forsyth.
Our annual conservation achievement banquet is Sunday and after that I have a plethora of meetings to plan and attend. I'm not sure when I'll get it done, but I plan to have a nervous breakdown sometime soon.
Ha! I'm so not...I am loving this and you all know it.

Laurie--your moon shots had me chuckling. I went out to try to photograph the eclipse, and got the same trailing effect of light. Tried several times--finally got one small shot. But, since I had crouched down to steady the camera, my biggest concern was getting back up!

The total eclipse is impossible to capture without a tripod. The shutter needs to stay open for too long for my shaky hands. I feel your pain. I think I'll be looking for one very soon.

Wow, those are sweet picks! I had to show my CO workers. They loved how the tracking ones turned out, I have the first one as a background and have people walking buy asking me about it.

Your first shots of the moon were very interesting. They resembled seedlings or maybe sperm, depending on which track your mind takes. Your final shot was a beauty.

Hey! You're in my hood (sort of) I love Fairmont...mom used to take us there every year...we didn't stay in the resort of course...but we used the hot springs - wonderful!
