What you don’t know is that I too, was surprised. I was given a gift that meant more to me than any thing I’ve ever received. What was this amazing gift you ask? It was a gift to me, straight from my son's heart.
This is a digital picture frame. It displays a slide show of photos (all taken by me and lovingly compiled by my son). There are nearly a hundred of my photos installed and it can hold many, many more. It is capable of showing videos and comes with a remote. He spent a very large amount of his hard earned money to buy it for me and then spent countless hours setting it up.
It also plays music. The song my son picked for me was “Wind Beneath My Wings” by Bette Midler. As you can imagine, I cried.
The best Christmas gift. Ever.

How thoughtful. I have never heard of a digital picture frame! The time, artistic attention, and the love he gave to you is priceless.
What a marvellous Christmas: worth waiting for, I'd say.
I saw those just before Christmas and added it to my wish list.
I'm jealous!
Merry Christmas.
Mary, I had never seen one either, but it is the neatest thing. Such a thoughtful gift, it touched my soul.
AC, well worth waiting for. To be honest, I couldn't have asked for anything to be different. It was, for lack of a better word, perfect.
Methatiam, I am enjoying it right now. I have it at work, because my kitties would probably knock it over and break it if I had it at home. It's warrantied for 5 years, but I don't think the warranty covers cat damage.
Those kinds of gifts are always the best. I made a collage for my dad once when I was 12 because I didn't have any money. I was actually shy about it because everyone else gave him cool, expensive things. He still says it was his favorite gift.
That is most excellent! I am sure he treasures it. My dad always preferred the gifts that I made (or at least he said he did).
New Cars?? Digital Picture Frames?? I am SOOO coming to your place for Christmas next year! Glad you had such a great time! Sounds like it totally made up for the delay!
DH, you are so right. It was a fantastic holiday.
As for Christmas next year, c'mon down!
Israel Kamakawiwo'ole does a good job with that song, too. (He's best known for his Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World medley.)
So overall, you'd say Christmas was worth the wait this year? :o)
Thomas, I love the Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World medley! I'm sure he does a great job on Wind Beneath My Wings too. I'll look for it online. I would have added the song to my blog, but then I couldn't access from work...darned government security anyway. :|
As for Christmas, it was well worth the wait!
Oh, brings tears to this mother's eyes. What a wonderful heartwarming gift.
Cuppa, it was the most thoughtful gift I've ever received. I am looking at it right now. :)
Oh my gosh, Laurie! I don't believe it! I'm finally reading your surprise belated Christmas blog. (It's been crazy here) So precious. The suspense has been fun. I can imagine his delight with the beautiful SUV.
Can you imagine my smile on reading that he gave his wonderful mom a digital picture frame. Guess what my son gave me for Christmas!? I LOVE it. What a neat coincidence.
Happy Christmas...what lovely giving spirits you both have...a joy to hear.
xx
What wonderful expressions of devotion and love between you and your son, Laurie. Bless his heart. I know that his gift to you is cherished.
What a neat gift! A 21st Century photo album. Wonderful!
Cathy, That is an amazing coincidence! Do we have great sons or what?
Reverend Tania, He's a very sweet, giving guy. I'm a lucky mom!
Bonita, He's always been very thoughtful in his gifting. This year he outdid himself.
Nick, I had never even seen one before, so you can imagine my surprise and wonder at receiving it.
I had to do some catching up with you I guess I didn't put you in my Fav list last time!!! Sorry!
I am so glad to hear you had a wonderful time. I know that feeling when you think you have given your child the world. It is so heart warming!
Enjoy that picture frame!!!!
Butterfly, I am a very happy mom and I have a very happy son. We are truly blessed.
My mother was my hero too, and more than once the wind beneath my wings... that's the way they are.
Joe, thank you for sharing that. As always, beautifully written.
What a very thoughtful gift. Your son is wonderful.
Squirl, he is totally awesome! I took the frame to work because I'm afraid my cats will break it. I have had so much fun "watching" it. It really brightens my day and everyone that comes in to the office is enthralled.
I've never heard of such a thing, either . .. but I am so glad you got to spend this good time with your son. :)
Peace,
~Chani
heavens to betsy, i look sideways for day and you have 25 comments already.
you are one popular blogger!
Chani, it is a very neat gift, and so thoughtful. I had a wonderful time over while my son was here.
Ur-spo, I kept them in suspense over the super-secret Christmas projects, so they had to check back. :-)
All I can say at 2:22 a.m. after getting home from work is this is amazing.
And I'm sorry I haven't been getting around to track the latest Christmas surprises as I wanted to.
Wow. You sure have a lot of love in that Montana/Colorado Connection you've got going...
WW, 2:22am? I am surprised you can form sentences at that time of night. I know I can't.
Thank you so much for checking in. You are a sweetheart! I hope you are able to catch up on your sleep.
I've said it many, many times before, but it doesn't make it any less true, my son is my best friend in the universe. He "gets" me and loves me anyway. :-D
Your son was very lucky! A new SUV for Christmas, that’s just so overwhelming! I guess, both of you were surprised and touched because of the unexpected gifts you received from each other. How sweet!
