Gone Fishing

Tomorrow I am going to Billings to attend Cousin Dale's father's funeral service. I am attending out of respect for Dale, who is most certainly not well enough to go himself. Dale is having serious complications as a result of the bone marrow transplant. In essence, the Graft VS Host Disease is kicking his butt. My dear son, Wolf, has been visiting him in the hospital as often as possible. It's a real drain on Wolf, but he swears that it is what he wants to do. He is such a good, kind, caring person.

After the service, I am going to Absarokee for the weekend. I intend to vegetate as much as possible, although knowing me, I will want to do a lot of cooking and some cleaning while I'm there. I shouldn't take the extra day off of work, but to be honest, I need a vacation from my vacation.

I plan to take a lot of photos, walk the dog excessively, take long drives with Dad and Mike and do a lot of doting. I will, most likely, invite Uncle John and Neighbor Lois over for a big meal and send them home lots of left-overs. I know it will be a wonderful weekend.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend, too. Please remember to hug the ones you love and take lots of pictures. Life is short, live it to the fullest.

You're having a helluva year, aren't you?

There are moments when the truth of
"Life is short, live it to the fullest" becomes all too obvious.

Blessings, Laurie.

Laurie--you certainly need time to regenerate (and, Lord knows, you deserve it).
Here's hoping (and praying) that Dale rallies & kicks GvHD in its butt.

Enjoy your time, Laurie. You deserve some fun and rest. I hope Dale begins feeling better soon.

Courtney, it has been interesting, to say the least. I think it has made me appreciate life more, though.

Nick, thank you. This is one of those times.

KGmom, thank you. I think just getting back home for a few days will help a lot. I've missed my dad and brother so much.

Thanks for your prayers. You all are so kind and it means the world to us.

Mary, thank you so much, so do I. He has a lot of living left to do.

Laurie -

Rest, laugh - I hope it's a wonderful weekend with people who are so lucky to have you with them.

God bless your dear son. This has to be difficult, but he is his mom's kid.

I think of Dale so often and always send a smile and a hug and wishes for healing.

As you probably know by now, I'm an advocate for taking long excursions into the country to revitalize the spirits. Add family and friends, and it is a supremely uplifting event. My best wishes for your weekend with your family. I can only imagine how beautiful it is there, this time of year.

Cathy, Wolf's a good guy, very determined and strong. Dale feels so lousy (and has such diarrhea) that he just wants to lay in bed, which has caused problems with circulation, sores, etc. The physical therapist asked Wolf to help her push him into physical activity and he's agreed to do so. Now he's faced with having to be the motivator for Dale and it's a challenging task. But I think he's up to it. I know he can out-stubborn me...

Bonita, your stories helped me make the decision to go. I really shouldn't, I have so much to catch up on, but I really feel I need to. Thank you.

Your poor family....you have had so many trials and troubles. You have my best wishes.

Gina, thank you! I feel better already. :-)

Littlepea, actually, I'm rarin' to go now. The mountains do that to me.

Threecollie, it seems like there have been some trials lately, but it has made us closer as a family, which isn't all bad.

Enjoy your time away, you need some moments to pull in all the energy you've expended. You are a kind and generous person, as is your son, and if you are going to be there for others, you need to care for the body and soul that sustain you.

In answer to your question, no, not on line but you may e-mail me if you wish. Send your address and I will send a few along as a gift.

Love, Pam

KC, I'm pretty sure it will be, thank you.

Pam, you are too kind. Your cards are beautiful, as is your comment. Thank you.

Home is where the heart is...and you've been sharing yours a lot lately.

I hope you can find some serenity there.
