Happy VD

The picture (above) was taken in October 2006. I happened to be looking out the window at work and this is what I saw. Of course I took photos. I posted it on my blog back then, but I don't think anyone with the exception of my family actually saw it. It seemed worthy of a re-post, it being VD and all.

And speaking of Valentine's Day. There really isn’t much about it that I like. I don’t wear jewelry, although it took HWDDD approximately two years and several thousand dollars to realize that fact. I don’t care for flowers, because my cats eat them and throw up. And they die (the flowers, not the cats!). How romantic is that? I love you so much that I gave you a bouquet of flowers that will end up turning brown and wilting, eventually to fall in ugly brown clumps upon your work desk? Nothing says I love you like decaying roses.

Despite my cynicism toward all that is Valentine’s Day, I ventured to our local pharmacy this afternoon in an attempt to find a suitable card for HWDDD. As the last person in town to purchase a 2007 VD card, I didn’t have much of a selection to choose from. I dutifully read through each and every card (except for the ones in the mushy section, because hey, I’m so not about that) and finally made my choice. It’s the same one I got him two years ago, but it’s so us, and he won't remember getting it anyway.

In case you're wondering, I'm the dog...

You've got 6 cats...and you're the dog? How did that work? I mean, I can see the dog's a female, but...

Happy Valentine's Day...ruff, ruff, meow, meow

(Hiss, Hiss!!!)

Look at the position they are in WW...who is hugging who? ;-)

And lest you forget, I'm a dog lover that just happens to have 6 cats.

Doh! Gotcha. Purrrr....

Those are all neat pics to express Valentine's Day. I hope you have an enjoyable one, Laurie!

Apparently we're the only two people on the planet who are blogging right now.

Hello??? Is anybody out there?

You're invited to our Valentine's Day Eve discussions about soap operas and pet-oriented VD cards...

dmmgmfm said...

Thank you Nick! That is so sweet of you. I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day as well. Hugs!

WW, You, Nick and I do seem to be the only people out in bloggerville tonight. Do you think they are having some sort of couples only blogger party we aren't invited to? :(

WithinWithout said...

Well, I can't speak for sometimes saintly, but I don't remember receiving any invitations...

I'm crushed, actually. HE and Keshi have shown up on my blog, so they must be sad and lonely too...

dmmgmfm said...

Well invite them over to my blog, it's really sad and lonely over here, too. *pout*

HWDDD is out playing darts, or bowling or playing pool or golfing (no, there's a foot and a half of snow and it's dark...so it's probably not that).

WithinWithout said...

No, I think HE and Keshi have come and gone...so to speak. And sometimes saintly too, it appears.

Don't pout. I wonder how HWDDD is with his aim. Zing! I'm not too bad at those sports, especially midnight snow golf.

dmmgmfm said...

It looks like we are alone again...naturally.

And I'm not really pouting, I quite like that he goes out and does what he enjoys.

HWDDD is good at all bar sports. Midnight snow golf huh? Now that sounds interesting.

I meekly, and most humbly wish you a cynical VD Day. Don't hurt me.

dmmgmfm said...

Jock, I would NEVER hurt you! Happy VD back at ya!

Cool hearts Laurie! Happy Valentine's Day to you, too!
And cool card.

Hello!

I love that photo. what a happy coincidence!

I don't love the whole flowers for Valentine's day thing either. I get what you're saying.

I'm late to the party... Laurie, I'm with you. No mushy cards, no candy, no jewelry, thank you. Laura in NJ got warty toads for an anniversary gift once and I love that idea. A new fancy koi would be nice... :o) Thanks for the laugh!

Great post. I love the heart picture. For a dog you look great LOL. Had to shoot that in there. Well have a very nice day and the next time I buy flowers, I buy the plastic ones that will last 2 or 3 hundred years, that should do the trick. :-)

That was a fun post. Liked the snow thing and the greeting card. Happy day!

Nothing exposes the differences between our species (male and female) than the bright light of Valentine's Day.

For Men it is 100% about sex..if you can't get laid on Valentine's day you are a total loser and you should have spent the $150 bucks on a Pro..

and for the Ladies it is all about Romance and Communicating and Gifts and Cuddling and Smooching and Holding Hands and I WUV SO MUCH, OH YES I DO!

Atleast on Feb 14th most men have to pay for services rendered and pretend to be thoughtful and sensitive...unless of course you are in the beginning of a relationship and you would gnaw off a limb just to be able to spend a second with the object of your obssession!

LAURIE!! OMG!! It's my CAT Velcro!! (maybe a distant cousin?) I love the pic, and your blog, keep it up!

Cute card! LOL

The whole VD thing has never made any sense to me so I don't have much to contribute to the general pool of opinions. Like you, *mush* is so much of what I am not. LOL

Peace,

Naturewoman, Happy VD to you as well!

Heidi, glad I'm not the only one!

Mary,I would like a live plant, of course I'd have to keep it at the office or the cats would eat it...

Dave, better yet, get silk flowers! They are actually quite pretty.

HE, so are you sayin' I'm a guy? ;-)

DH, thanks so much! Glad you like.

Chani, it's pretty obvious that we aren't alone here. Do you think it's possible men just think women want all that stuff, when in fact, we don't?

Rhea, happy day to you too!

Heh heh... Dan said to me the other day, "you're not romantic. I like it!" I like flowers, though. Dead roses become my Halloween decorations.

I'm convinced that most women really want their guy to scrub the bathroom for Valentines Day.

dmmgmfm said...

Pink, I'm so glad you are feeling better! I have been worried about you. I hope your VD was a good one too.

Courtney, RIGHT ON! That, or do the dishes. :-|

Laurie - You crack me up! In my next reincarnation I'm going to have a sense of humor like you.

My hubby wanted to go out on the snow because he felt he had to get flowers. Like you, I'd just rather not hassle with them. I feel so ungrateful or spoiled when I say that. Your saying it emboldened me to confess this.

I DO remember the pix of snow hearts - I luv 'em.

Happy VD to you and HWDDD!

dmmgmfm said...

Cathy, what a great compliment! Thank you! I am touched (in the head and the heart). And by the way, I think your sense of humor is just fine!

What a hoot! That card if too funny. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Hope you had a "purrfectly love-ly" day.

Anvilcloud said...

I remember a time when we wouldn't wish someone happy vd. hahaha

dmmgmfm said...

Cuppa, thank you! What a sweet comment. The furkids and I are all snuggled up and having a wonderful time. I hope your Valentine's Day was lovely too.

AC, it doesn't seem all that long ago, does it?

I am not a dog. I am kind of bitchy though.

You are about as serious about this event as I am....and, you are so right about bouquets. Next day, the roses have drooped. Humph.

I love that card!! I agree with you about V-day. I like gifts and pretty cards but I want them from my husband-just because he wanted to give me something not because he was obligated to. I'd rather have someone in my life who is nice to me and shows me he loves me everyday than a jerk who treats me like crap all year then gets me flowers on V-day! Plus I was blessed with a man who likes to shop with me so we buy stuff all the time-it's kinda hard to buy for someone who has everything already!

dmmgmfm said...

Mist, I can be that as well...though not often.

Bonita, I hate to see money wasted on flowers, it just seems silly. And I never wear jewelry, so I vote no on the whole thing!

Littlepea, can't argue with that at all. If they aren't nice all year long, boot em to the curb! ;-) Glad you got a good one.

For the record, I resisted the urge to make the same crass joke that anvilcloud did. I was so very sorely tempted, but I restrained myself. See, I can go a day without being lewd! :D

Hi there, Laurie! I made it. Just came over from responding to your comment on my B-log. That pic of the two hearts is wonderful. Looks like someone took a tire and rolled out some love. Nice brush for that canvas. You are gonna slap me for what I am going to tell you popped into my mind when I saw your name at my site: It was a line from Lonesome Dove when Augustus says with that charming accent he's got going: "Laurie, Darlin'---how 'bout a poke?"

OUCH!

Well, can't say I didn't have that coming.

dmmgmfm said...

Courtney, I am so very proud of you. One whole day, who would have thought! ;-)

Gawpo, Glad you like the photo! I love Lonesome Dove and that line always cracks me up.

You'll get no slap from me!

Too Funny! I purchased that same card for my sweetheart. (and probably at the same pharmacy!)
