Mike and I spent a lot of time and money trying to make his room as homey as possible. I am not at all domestic, so I was quite out of my league, but I gave it my best shot.
This is the room he was assigned.
A little retail therapy was in order...
The new adjustable temperpedic mattress and the dresser we bought for the room.
A good friend of mine is a CNA in his wing. I know she will take extra good care of him.
I spent all day Wednesday working on the room. The furniture was delivered and set up and I organized it to the best of my ability. I filled the drawers and closet with dad's favorite things and all of the new things we bought. 
I took this picture in late afternoon. I was standing in front of daddy's window. The clouds in the distance hide a great view of the mountains and the Yellowstone River is just across the road from the facility. 
This is what I saw out dad's window as I prepared to leave for the night.
The next day, the new Sony flat panel TV was delivered.

This sunset greeted daddy as he prepared to spend his first night away from home in 48 years. I believe it is a sign of beautiful things to come.

You've made a lovely space. Perhaps you could add some pictures - maybe a collage of family photos or of things your Dad loves, favourite places or the like. You really are an amazing woman.

Hey, girl, you did a great job! It's a big change for your dad, but he looks happy. I will send prayers for an easy adjustment and good days ahead... the view from the window can't hurt.
For someone who's "not at all domestic," you did a fantastic job turning a dull, sterile room into a home. I'm impressed!
Carol, great idea! I have a couple of collages I'm working on and I plan to frame photos of the adventures we take him on. I'm also having some some photos from the past touched up and will frame them and hang them. I guess you could say the room is a work in progress. Thanks so much for the suggestions!
Pam, it is a big adjustment. I have heard that people with Parkinson's have a difficult time adjusting to small changes and this is a big one, I'm sure it will take some time. Fortunately, my brother is wonderful and stops by every day to see him. I am sure that will help. Thanks so much for your prayers and good wishes.

It looked painless but you are making me cry. The sunset is meaningful, yet beautiful.
He looks happy and comfortable. Isn't it so moving that he is away from home for the first time? You made it so nice and cozy.

You are a wonderful daughter! I am sure your Dad appriciates all the love you put into making his new "digs" as comfortable and as "homey" as possible. This is where he needs to be now. It hard for him and for you. It is brave to do what needed to be done so your Dad is cared for. How nice you have a good friend to take care of him and to let you know how he is doing.
Photos of your adventures together will be awesome for him. He can share his outings with visitors. I bet he is very proud of you.
Having the beautiful view from his window is a delight for him I am sure and you know Mother Nature is keeping an eye on him too.
You don't need a book, you have the heart!

I worked in a nursing home for 10 years, then in assisted living for 6 years. Most elderly folks like their little room, and do quite well, grateful for the nursing care. You've done a good job creating his new home. Is that "Deadliest Catch" on TV?

Thanks everyone, for your kind comments. You are the dearest friends in the world.
Dad is doing well. He says he is very happy and he has adjusted at light speed (in a geriatric sort of way). We are thrilled that he is happy.
Next Saturday is his birthday. We are planning a party at the nursing home and putting a notice in the local newspaper so hopefully his friends will stop by to wish him Happy 84th.
